The story of Parapluie.

Meet Fatema.

Fatema Chamass is the photographer, art director, and founder of Parapluie Studio. She built the studio in 2019 around one simple idea. That a portrait should feel like the person, not the camera.

Her work is rooted in painting and old fashion editorials. Soft directional light, considered colour, and a calm room. She likes the moment between poses more than the pose itself, the half breath where a sitter forgets to perform and starts to feel.

Over the past six years she has photographed mothers, families, designers, magazines, and brands across Lebanon. Some of her favourite work still happens in the same one room studio in Baabda where it all began.

01 · What we believe

Three quiet rules.

The values that guide every commission, every session, every retouch we sign off on.
01

Time is the work.

We never rush. Every session has room to breathe, every retouch has time to settle. A polished photograph is built one careful decision at a time.

02

The sitter first.

The person in front of the lens is the project. Wardrobe, light, and direction are shaped around them. We want the photograph to look like the day, not the studio.

03

Honesty in light.

Skin should look like skin. Cloth should look like cloth. We retouch with restraint, removing distractions and never the things that make a face a face.

02 · The studio so far

A short timeline.

From a one room studio to a full house of dresses, sets, and stories.
2019
The first room
Parapluie opens as a small one room studio in Baabda. Fatema begins photographing mothers to be from the neighbourhood, working with a single backdrop and a borrowed dress rail.
2021
Mummies and Tummies
The signature maternity programme launches. Three packages, an in house wardrobe library, and a longer, more deliberate session structure built around comfort.
2022
Fine art & editorial
First commercial campaigns and magazine commissions arrive. The studio expands to handle apparel lookbooks, conceptual portraits, and personality features for Lebanese press.
2024
A deeper wardrobe
The dress collection passes one hundred and fifty pieces. A new prop and styling room makes space for richer set design, longer fittings, and quieter time for sitters between setups.
2026
Three thousand sittings later
More than three thousand sessions delivered, forty six thousand finished photographs, and a small team of stylists, retouchers, and assistants behind every booking.

Photography is more than a profession. It is the patience to wait for the moment a person forgets they are being seen.
